Citi signs on as a Major Sponsor

The Organising Committee of the GIO 2018 IWRF Wheelchair Rugby World Championship (2018 WRWC) is pleased to announce Citi as a Major Sponsor.

Presentations were held in Citi’s offices showcasing wheelchair rugby and the forthcoming 2018 WRWC. Citi employees had the opportunity to participate in a “hands-on” experience of wheelchair rugby in an activation provided by Wheelchair Sports NSW. The consensus of the participants was that it’s not as easy as the professional athletes make it look!

“Citi has a longstanding history of enabling growth and progress in para-sport,” said David Livingstone, CEO of Citi Australia. “We are delighted to partner with the 2018 WRWC to increase awareness of these inspiring para-athletes and celebrate their hard work, determination and success.”

2018 WRWC Organising Committee Chair, Steve Loader, commented “We are excited to gain a global partner such as Citi. Their support of para-athletes at an elite level over many years is well known and this sponsorship will enable the 2018 WRWC to showcase elite sport for athletes with a disability.”

The 2018 WRWC will be held from 5 - 10 August 2018 at the Quaycentre and Genea Netball Centre, Sydney Olympic Park. Australia will compete against 11 other nations: USA, Canada, Japan, Great Britain, France, Sweden, Denmark, Ireland, New Zealand, Colombia and Poland.
The Australian team, the Steelers, are the current World Champions, Paralympic Gold medallists and #1 ranked team in the world, and will be defending their title on home soil.
The 2018 WRWC is the largest elite sporting event for athletes with a disability to be held in Sydney since the 2000 Paralympic Games.
